Coastal Data In Your Pocket
Posted on 22. Nov, 2009 by DiveVets in News
You’re at work and the dive gear is in the trunk of your car, the boss surprises you and tells you to leave work early. Hot damn, you’re going diving, or at least you want to go diving, but is it worth the drive to the beach? What if the swell is up? Should you hit a South facing or West facing dive spot? Thanks to the good folks at Phone Halo, you now have the answer available right on your IPhone.
Check out the new app, Coastal Data Information Program (CDIP). This IPhone app gives you the latest buoy data, swell models and other data collected by the CDIP. You can find this information online, but having it on your phone is a handy tool for California divers. With this app, you have quick access to the Regional and Local Swell Models for San Diego through to San Francisco, as well as data from over 40 buoys. This is a great app, and it’s FREE.
You can download the latest version of CDIP directly from the ITunes Store by clicking here.
Don’t forget to check out some of the other great SCUBA Apps for your IPhone. We’ve put together a list of the best here.

For people local to the Monterey are, I can recommend this page that J. Linde made. It’s an excellent iphone specific version of C. Tribolet’s wam-at-a-glance page, and gives a good/quick way to view that info from the iphone.
