$4000 Raised for the Disabled Veterans Scuba Project

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 was a day for remembering the Veterans who served and a day for giving back in a small way.
7 DiveVet divers joined 40 other divers aboard the dive boats SunDiver and Island Time, for a day of diving and fundraising. Approx $4,000 was collected to donate towards the Disabled Veterans Scuba Project. Big thanks to Capt. Ray, Capt. Kyaa and their crew who gave their time and resources to make this event happen.
Dan and David, both HSA trained divers, were able to help meet the goals of the Disabled Veterans Scuba Project by taking Air Force Vet. Kelly McCumskey diving. Kelly stated, “this was the best Veterans Day ever”. She had the opportunity to see her first horn shark, abalone and a bunch of other sea life thanks to the great conditions. Kelly has over 20 dives thanks to the DVSP and it’s volunteer divers.
Props to Melvin Pasley and the Sundiver Dive Charters for putting this event together.
